Microsim for iPad & iPhone 4Yes yes yes. After so much whinings on twitter and plurk, I finally got my iPad on 23rd July around 10.30am at Jurong Point's Challenger! Was a long long wait. Didn't get leave specially for this day but Reverie's infant care centre's closure is fixed on this date and I got leave for it long ago. Coincidence much? xD I got a 16GB,Wifi + 3G model. Retails for $928 in SG. Found 16GB alot more than enough for me coz I hardly used 2GB in my iPhone 3G with apps, songs and everything xD Here's the thing about iPad (as well as iPhone 4), dunno issit Apple wanna be unique or something, they came out with this thing call the Microsim for their new devices. Works like a Normal Sim card, just that it's smaller. It can be purchased with data plan (for iPad currently), but at a mad high cost. Data plan specifically for iPad in M1 cost as much as $39.99 for unlimited data usage. For the lower end ones is about $20 plus. (Normal Sim card unlimited mobile data plan cost around $20plus only!) Not sure about other carriers but they are more or less the same. So alot of techkies online begin to find cheaper ways to surf 3G on the iPad. They begin to turn to this thing call MultiSim. It simply means 1 number, 2 sim cards then share the data plan for their mobile number and so on. So for my own Starhub mobile plan, I have 12GB of data usage which is WAYYYY more than enough for my Motorola Milestone. So I signed up for Multi Sim service from Starhub. They charge me an additional $5 monthly and a one time charge of $21 for the additional Simcard. Laogong got it for me yesterday and before he did, he called and asked if I need the Normal Sim or MicroSim. And guess what? Normal sim have to pay $5 monthly and microsim have to pay around $10! And If my information is not faulty, the first time charge for the multi microsim will be more expensive than the normal one. Wah sibeh jiak lui sia! Even in HardwareZone's forum, iPad & iPhone 4 users are complaining about it. Carriers are treating people like idiot and chop us off like this. I got the normal multi sim from Starhub and use my Microsim cutter to cut in into a microsim. Which can be used in my iPad. Pictures The Microsim cutter with my Normal Sim. Looks like the puncher we used to punch holes on our paper! Insert the Normal sim all the way into the microsim cutter. The thing below is the microsim tray for iPad. After cutting. The now-microsim is being cut perfectly and is place inside the microsim tray for iPad. And taadahhh! Starhub network for my iPad using the Microsim. Bought the Microsim cutter for $36. Initially before iPad launches in Singapore, I saw it for only $20! Now iPad launch le all sorts of crap prices coming out. Now around $45 already -.-! For iPhone 4, not very sure if the carrier charges extra for microsim and all. Might not have to if you are taking iPhone 4 from them I suppose! Like Angela who are concerned about things like if her iPhone 4 doesn't have battery, she couldn't switch her microsim into a normal sim phone, we can actually get a microsim adaptor on eBay.com.sg that looks like this So ultimately, Apple is creating trouble for us. But who ask their product and devices so attractive?! LOL =X Friends who need to get their normal sim cut into microsim can contact me at 8157 6355! (My new phone number as well, take note xD) Friends free, not very shou one I charge abit abit! HAHAHA =X Online people doing it for $5 siol. Sibeh ho tan -.-! (I'm not trying to tan okay, cover cost only, LOL! I'm not charging THAT much!) Hope this post clears your doubts about those microsim, microsim cutter and adaptor and etc =D Toodles! Callie

Breastpump ReviewsI am going to do a simple breastpump review based on the breastpumps I've used before. Mad urge to do it because wanted more people to know which is the best and it's definitely worthwhile to get the good ones if mummies are intending to breastfeed for long. SO! These are the pumps I've purchased before; 1st - Pigeon Manual Breast Pump 2nd - Avent ISIS iQ Uno Electric Breast Pump 3rd - Medela FreeStyle Breast Pump 4th - Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump Here goes the review =D Pigeon Manual Pump Got it when I'm only 10 weeks pregnant. Did not even get to use it because I've heard too many stories of mummies who almost broke their hand using manual pumps =X Avent ISIS iQ Uno Electric Breast Pump Got it a month before I was due and the lady at kiddy palace intro me this over Medela swing because she says that it was better as it could be converted to a manual pump. Sadly, my milk supply then was just a little over enough for Reverie then and I thought the pump was too lousy =X But of course, compared to the high-end Medela ones, the suction is really horrible. Was so amazed with the functions of the pump when I saw it on Medela's webbie. Timer, hands-free, rechargeble battery, light weight motor and etc. Decided to get an US set because it's way cheaper than local set. (US Set - $520, Local set - $899, depends on package and promotions) It indeed express more milk for me than my Avent's pump. Then I started to see one of my followers in twitter telling me that Freestyle have bad suction, and Medela Pump In Style Advanced is the best. Tried to not think so much as I've already gotten it and I'm quite pleased with it. Pros of Freestyle: - Light-weight Motor - Rechargeble battery which last up to 3 hours (I charge only once in a week or so?) - Timer and memory feature - Medela's 2 phase expression feature. Cons of Freestyle - Absolutely nothing! BUT! When compared with Medela's Pump In Style Advanced, - It has more parts to wash. - Suction is weak? Because Medela PISA's suction is mad powerful even it's only half knot turned! Ohwell. It died on me last week. Read reviews on Amazon.com and alot of people complained about it's weak motor and suction. Alot of people had their motor replaced. But I'm suay because I wanted to be a cheapo that's why buy US set then no warranty! Lanlan. Get the legendary strong Medela's Pump In Style Advanced the next day! Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump At one look you can immediately list out all the Cons. - Huge motor - Attached with a lame backpack - Don't have rechargeble battery like Freestyle. Have to use powerpoint. - Tubings seperate into 2 pieces unlike Freestyle it's all in one. BUT THEN! THE SUCTION AND POWER OF THIS PUMP IS HORRIFICALLY WONDERFUL! Dead serious! I always switch on suction 9 (max suction strength) for freestyle and it feel a little painful in the beginning when I pump. But when PISA, I just turn on the minimum suction and it's mad strong already! But that's only for phase 1. For phase 2 of expressing I turn the suction knot slightly in the half of my PISA and it's pretty painful due to the strength! After thinking much, I believe that a breastpump main job is to empty our breast from milk therefore we can feed to our little ones. So I think I can minus off all the cons of PISA because it does its main job the best compared to the rest =D (Rhymes siol, LOL!) As for the backpack, the pump's motor unit is removable from it but it's abit ugly with the velcro all over it. We can choose the backpack version, the shoulder bag version or the metro bag version. Wanted to get the shoulder or metro bag version because I find the backpack mad orbit cha cha. But boy! I'm mad glad I got the backpack version instead due to SG's supplier only have this model! It's abit on the heavier side so I think it's better for our shoulder to share the weight of it. One of my shoulder will most likely break if I'm using the other 2 versions =X And end up the backpack look wayyyyyyyyyyy nicer than it's picture in the box! I believed they have upgraded it because it's a different design. Find it quite nice =D I've learnt my lesson from Freestyle and decided to get a local set from Mothercare. They are now having a 15% promotion for Medela so I got my Medela PISA for $64x. Usual Price is $754. I'm writing this review based on my experience and I'm not asking everyone who needs to pump splurge on high end pumps like Freestyle or PISA. I wanted to buy good double pump because I felt awkward having to use my work time to pump therefore I think it's better to make it quick, fast and efficient. So mummies who are intending to pump for long term can get good pumps which can last you for quite sometime instead of switching here and there just because you wanted to save money. End up wasting more money like I did T^T More reviews about breastpumps could be view at Amazon.com once you've typed in the product name. I find it an awesome webpage although I didn't purchase things from there because reviews are mad useful when you wanted to buy something, especially expensive items like this. So yeah, here you go! My reviews on the breast pumps I've used before! Hope the points that I've mentioned helps for mummies who intend to choose among these pumps! Toodles! Callie P/S >> Ohyeah! Forget to mention, no matter how expensive or how high tech it is, our best breast pump is our little honey pie! For me, she's my Baby Queencess, Reverie Glynisebella =DD

Nursing Tops & DressesHave been wearing like auntie for the past few months since Reverie's birth because all my old clothes can't fit me (Mainly top part coz that place grown quite abit =X) Nursing tops are friggin' pricey in Kiddy palace and I only bear to buy 1 piece. $50 bucks leh ._. I rather buy other things. Was trying to find webbies online that sells cheap and nice nursing dresses & tops but all end up to be around the same price and look so auntie-ey -.- Only a month or so before, I found a seller in motherhood's forum that sells very chio & pretteh maternity & nursing apparels! Her items ranged from $19 - $20 plus. Her's what I've bought! I'm gonna collect them tomorrow! =D ![]() Hahahahaha =X Got alot more chio ones but will buy them in future. Will breastfeed Reverie as long as possible coz I know what's the best-est for her =D & Happy 4th month to my Baby Queencess ; Reverie Glynisebella! Time past so quickly! She's growing and growing. Letter to Reverie's Infant Care Teachers.Being a super gao zeh (troublesome) mummy, I wrote a page long of letter to Reverie's infant care teachers to remind them certain issues when dealing with her. Working in the same line, I dunno why I can still get so gao zeh, LOL! Might be because over-reading of books and knowing too much facts can get you too over also =X And I have to admit I'm the kind of parent me myself hate as a teacher, friggin' irritating and overprotective. LOL! Anyway, here goes! Dear Teachers, LOL! I think if I recieve one letter like this as a teacher I sure think this Laobu really siao ding dong -.- But I decided to write like this because there are so many things to say so I think it's better to put them in a list rather than say one by one. I think say one by one they find me more irritating loh! Anyway so far Reverie's doing pretty well in her school, I personally like her teachers alot and I find them very patient. For her bottles issues, not exactly up to normal infant standard because really have to see her mood. But she suckle from it. Just that the quantity is very low. Highest so far is 140ml. Others would be like 40ml, 30ml, 70ml, 90ml and etc. Better than she starve herself for 9 hours in 3 days when I started working what! lol. Shall blog again next time! Just wanna share how gao zeh I am as a parent LOLOL! Toodles! Callie =D

Getting a Baby GirlSo yeah. Here is the Ultimate getting meimei guide in our local Singlish. Alot of plurks mummies are interested in the simple scientific way of concieving a baby girl so here goes! 1. it's important to understand your own ovulation date. (If my memory do not fail me, it's normally 2 weeks after the last day of your menses) 2. by understanding the different characteristic of the X and Y sperm (Shall just simply name them girl sperm & boy sperm) we will know that, - There are generally more boy sperm than girl sperm - Boy sperm has longer tails therefore they swim faster than girl's. - Boy sperm is more teh-mia-gui (短命鬼) than girl's sperm. Girl sperm can last up to 3 days. - Boy sperm can't live in acidic environment. 3. So by using the knowledge above, here's how we try to get a baby girl. 4. Firstly, always get your ovulation date right. Count 3 days (some sources says 4 days) before your ovulation to do the business you have to do to get pregnant. Why? 5. If you do your business 3 days before your ovulation, the sperms will be waiting at the "door" for your eggs to be release. But sadly, Mr. Boy sperm is what we call the teh-mia-gui couldn't wait that long. So TAHHDAAHHH! If it succede, there you go! A baby girl! 6. To further increase your chances of getting a baby girl, it's also important to eat more acidic food as boy sperm couldn't adapt to the environment. You can easily google for a list of acidic/alkaline foods. So there you go! I typed this as closely as I could remember from my memory. Pages could be found online regarding this. Can try typing things like "natural ways to concieve a girl" and you can see informations about it. I get to know it when I'm reading my pre-natal book before I tried for my baby girl. Googled it and tried. Works for me and Emily. Not a 100% sure tio method thou. It just increase your chances of getting a girl =D Good luck trying! LOL (Use this method nvr tio zhaborkia don't blame me. Try at your own risk!) Toddles! Callie =D

Bottles again!Short entry. Baby Queencess only willing to drink from bottles when it's gripe water with water and some glucolin. Given in very small amount coz have to let her be more familiarised with bottles. So I can conclude that she knows very well how to latch on to bottles but she just don't wanna drink milk from it Maybe she want fresh one =X Tried back Mam's bottle for her and she's okay with it ![]() Bought it back in my neighbour's baby shop in M'sia. So far I find it the best in various aspects. Anti-colic system, BPA free, uber soft teats and most importantly, its uber chio! HAHA! Wanna get an extra one but Mothercare doesn't have this design. Same type of system and color but the prints is spiral thingy one. ![]() Also Mam's. Bought in Mothercare but switch the training spout to normal Mam's teats. So yeah, Mam definitely have the chio-est bottles around HAHAHA! Tried TommeeTippee's bottles as well ![]() I have to use softer teats as it's closer to mother's breast and she's more likely & willing to accept it. So far the once I've seen and felt is Mam, Pigeon & NUK's latex (But latex got this wierd smell so I don't really like it ._.). Have LOADS (Like 11, big and small) Avent bottles. Find the teats hard also. Got it from gift sets from friends, neighbours and my Avent's sterilliser. I believe the first few days when I start work she confirm, chop chop, guarantee will slaughter pigs like mad. But at least I can be assured now that she knows how to suckle from the bottle, just that she tikilan don't want to -_-! Hopefully she will be co-operative during the days I'm back to work =D

Recent eventsFinally I'm bloggin'! Have so much to say so I suppose this shall be another whiny and wordy entry. Firstly, today is the 12 weeks since I have my baby doll with me! <33 Seeing her grow is like the happiest thing ever. Love ya Reverie baby =DD So there is a week and a half left for me to return back to work. So basically the things I have to prepare for myself is 2 weeks supply of frozen BM for emergency purposes, having Reverie prepared for bottle, my pump with its battery charged, having my baby doll prepared for bottle, buy all the things needed for infant care, having yueyue prepared for bottle, getting a list of instructions ready for her infant care teachers and did I mentioned I needa get Reverie to be prepared for bottle? So yeah, BOTTLES. I might have made more milk than my own mum even though she have taken care of the 3 of us (I love making bottles of milk for my kiddos during nap and teabreak time, I hate washing them thou LOL!). But never have I imagined that it's such a difficult thing for my own girl to take it. Why? I pretty much insist on not giving Reviie bottles until she's pro in latching on. I have a good reason for that. When she's still few days/weeks old, she always struggle to latch on to my breast. Even thou she latches on, she will still let go and take good long time to find it back, machiam like wanna play wrestling with me (So imagine my pain when my stitches pain are still there and all -.-). I've remembered Darrielle's mummy, Amulet, told me when I first saw her in the centre I'm working in saying that Darrielle has nipple confusion last time, therefore, have problem latching on and all. Makes me kind of afraid of that as it will greatly affects milk supply. So around 1 month of total breastfeeding, my mum and Laogong seeing me all tired, decided to buy formula for her to feed her at night, letting me rest more. She latches onto the bottle with no issues whatsoever. So on and off, if I'm uber tired, my mum or Laogong will feed her. And that's less than 5 bottles a month due to my kiasu-ness of decreasing in milk supply. After sometime, when Reviie's routine is pretty much established and me myself getting more use to waking up at night, I begin to feed herself without my mum and Laogong's help. So one fine day, during my Malaysia trip, I decided to dye my hair red. I prepare a bottle of formula for her just in case she's hungry and I couldn't feed her. So the time comes when she's obviously hungry, Laogong attempted to feed her the bottle. Wahsai, whole salon almost kena demolished by her screams. Was pretty suprised. She sort of gives up and fall asleep in Laogong's arms without drinking any milk. Moments later, I believe she couldn't tahan the hunger and begin to whine for her milk. This time she gave in and drank the whole bottle of 120ml of formula. After 1 exact week, we decided that it's time to get her ready for her bottles. So I begin to express a bottle of breastmilk in the morning after her feeding. usually gets around 120 to 180ml. So according to experts and books, all says that I'm not allowed to give her the bottle in the early stage as she associates me with feedings -.-. I let my sister-in-law to do the honors. And she screamed like there's no tomorrow! In fact, she turned blue, and of course we stopped the bottle immediately and try again moments later. Tried to starve her a little as it works in the salon. But she still refusing it. Her cries are like so heart piercing. I actually cried along while I'm in my room and SIL is in the living room trying to give her the bottle. We tried all methods. Put the teat on her lips waiting for her to latch on and all. Tried all sorts of bottles that might work. MAM - She's okay with this bottle all along until that one fine day she decided that mummy's boobies is better -.- Got once she's just too hungry and tired from all the crying that when I'm about to give up, I took her over and tried to give her the bottle myself for the last time before I latch her on . Miracly, she didn't struggle and just drank 60ml from the bottle. But I did not stay happy for long coz the very next day, the whole thing start over again, just that this time, she didn't gave in in the end. Until today -.- I suppose I have to leave it to Laogong when I start working? I will be starting work on the 24th of May. Baby doll will only go in infant care on the 1st of June. So Laogong have to take care of her for a week. By then she really tak boleh tahan, she also have to drink ._. See no evil, hear no evil. Just pray that Laogong don't bring her down when she's crying while I'm having lessons -.- LOL! So for the first week, I'll go easy on Laogong. I'll start work at 9.15am to 6.15am. Normally she will wake up at 7 plus. Feed and pump milk. Prepare for my ding dongs. 9.10 feed her the last time and I go for work (YMCA same block as me LOL). During children's nap time / my breaktime, I will go back to latch her once. Then when it's near 3, will pump bm once at my workplace. Not sure if I can pump another time as I have to take care of my kiddos. Stress. Will talk to Ms. Soh about it once I return back to work. So when it's time for her to enter infant care, maybe I kiasu about ride bicyle and give her fresh bm? HAHA! Near also =X But as much as I'm stress over with all this shytty bottle training thing, never once I've regretted on total breastfeeding and latching her on. It's for her own good. There's once I'm latching Reviie in CWP's nursing room and this mummy whose baby is a week older than Reviie saying that I should pump out my milk and feed her so that I know how much she drinks. And just so happens that the day before, I read that the good part about latching on is that you don't have to bother about figures. And of course, total pumping will result in insufficient milk supply and all. As the pump only expresses about 70% of what the baby drink/needed. Did not bother to talk much, just smile smile and all to that mummy. This is what happens when you assume too much. Making an (ASS) out of (U) and (ME) = assume =X So it's always a good thing to get our facts right. By online reading of information or by books. Always read from reliable source before doing it if you have your doubts. Not everything people says are right. Like the drinking water thing HAHAHAH =X For the bottle part, I'm sort of washing my hands off it coz she only cries harder when I'm the one feeding her. Let her dad settle it. Tired -.- Blahhh. Shall end my entry here. Bye!

M'sia trip, Sarong & VaccinationRecently Ms. Reverie wants us to carry her ALOT! When we don't she will cry until no voice and of course we can't bear her crying like that despite ppl saying that "let her cry lah! carry later use to it!" Say until very song but if your own kid cry until non-stop & zhao xia just because she wants your attention you sure you won't bother? There is this time we put her down and she cry, put her down and cry so Laogong & I say we just don't bother and see what happens. She just continue until face turn blue and all. After a min, Laogong & I look at each other and say "what kind of parents are we? Let our girl cry until like that" I used to object to letting my girl to sleep in sarong in the past. Not because it's unhealthy or what. It's because later she will only want to be rocked to sleep and couldn't sleep when she's not at home. Went back to Malaysia last weekend to visit my grandma & also my cousin's newborn baby, Angela. Was a great trip but because one of my aunt haven't get her own rental place, we have to sleep in the room without the aircon, FRIGGIN' HUMID & HOT! So it was a sleepless night, don't say Laogong & me, Reviie was uber cranky and she's like so sticky all over. So the next morning (When we finally drif into Lala land), Ms. Reverie woke up earlier than us and turn cranky due to the horrendous weather again. Luckily my mum already woke up so she took over Reviie and let us catch somemore sleep! Could hear her being very unhappy with the weather and was crying despite mum was carrying her (Usually she will stop immediately if people are carrying her). When I woke up and wanna see her, mum told me to look inside my auntie's room, and I found her sleeping so peacefully inside the electronic sarong! Mum says she's uber cranky then when she put her inside, she immediately shutup and fall asleep soon after -.- One of my auntie is a babysitter therefore have the sarong =D So mum and I decided to buy the electronic sarong (Actually I want it when I move back house but mum say I "siao eh" just use the manual one will do -.-) So yeah. Bought it and went to SG's kiddy palace & find the exact same thing selling for a much higher price! So we are gonna buy another one to put at PIL's place when we are sleeping there and all. Then yesterday Reviie had her 2nd month 6 in 1 vaccination. We are all ready for a sleepless night because people say that babies who just had their vaccination are very cranky. When to a normal clinic beside my gynae's for the vaccine and it cost only $101+. Reviie's PD charges $145 still needa add $40 bucks for consultation fee! Called Raffles medical clinic and they say $120 no need add consultation fees. Was deciding to go there since it's nearer but the lady suddenly say "Is your girl first time here? If so then the doctor MIGHT add consultation fee" -.- What the fish man. MIGHT add somemore -_-! We calculate the timing just 30mins before her next feeding so when she's done, she can nurse immediately and minimise her crying. The needle hit her butt and her face immediately change, dress her immediately and grab her out to nurse her. Can feel that she's not feeling well the entire day so we carry her more often. Dad came back that evening to drill the sarong up on the ceiling (didn't get the pushable pole thing coz very tin teh =X) Once it's done she drift into lala land and we have a very good night yesterday and she woke up twice for feeding =D The only worry is that when she's in Infant care, there will only be cots but not sarongs. What if she cry like mad and don't want to sleep? I mean as a preschool teacher myself, I understand that the infant care teachers can't give her 1 to 1 attention and carry her all day. No doubt that she will adapt to infant care's setting sooner or later but hopefully she will not make herself so miserable. Seen too many kids crying like mad due to separation anxiety during my childcare career and teachers always tell parents, "just let them cry and they will get use to it, blah blah blah" NOW COMING TO MY TURN! Although it's a different story (sleeping not separation anxiety), I can't bear to let her "just cry" and all ._. See lah. Just because I worked in infant care before and I know how they work thats why I'm more worried about the crying part. Not that they don't care totally but they have other kids to attend to as well so it's not like us going to her immediately when she cry. (I'm making the whole post seems like my girl only cries everyday =X She's only cranky sometimes when she wanna sleep and these few days due to her vaccination.) Haiis, what to do? If only I stayed in PCF then maybe my colleague will take extra care of her =X HAHA! Shall end this uber whiny, wordy & long post then! Not sure when to blog but still am grateful for friends and readers to remind me to blog at my tag! Motivates me alot =D Toodles! Callie Anyway those who are interested in getting the electronic cradle (sarong rocker) can email or tag me! Can help you people get it. It's definitely cheaper than those sold in SG =D

Pictures, old & new! After updating my previous entries for 20 minutes, Valen reminded me that there is no Reverie's picture! LOL! So here goes! (Only afew as I'm a noob photographer =X) My little Juicy Princess in her Juicy ride Looking very happy? LOL! Taken using iPhone so mad blurry ._. (I realised quite a number of people came to my site by googling "Juicy Couture Stroller" using my Feedjit, LOL! I must admit it's an attention-seeking thing that set us answering alot of "Where to buy it" questions from onlookers) ![]() My cute little baldie =X And this is . . . My 私生子 Mad yandao right! HAHA! He's actually my student in the first childcare centre I've taught in. J'den =D I found his name so nice then. Until the subsequent centres I've taught in have at least 2 of them -.- Be it Jayden, Jaden or Jaydon =.=! But so far of all the same pronounciation of the name, I found his the most unique =D His brother's name is J'vis. But he's the little fellow that makes me stay put in my new teaching career then when I'm about to give up. I remember I love him so much that time that I cried when I left that centre loh! My mother instinct hit me when I'm working in PCF Childcare & Infant care. Wanted a kiddo myself so bad! Althou' I'm not supposed to have favorites, my faviies are all boys! But for my own, I wanted a girl =X Dilema much? LOL Current favorite in YMCA, Jeron & Cheng Jung =D Similarities between 3 of them? Strictly no water! Finally! Finally! Finally! Finally what? Finally I'm bloggin' lah! LOL =X Really can't find anything to blog about but this idea struck me while I was browsing MummySG's forum and saw this problems tonnes of mummy faced! Have you encounter your seniors or elderly people (Those aunties on streets / your parents / Parent-in-laws / relatives / or whoever!) told you that you should do this this this to your baby and insisted that you should do it because they did it during their time? Or maybe they think that you are too young (or maybe noob =X) so you should follow all their instructions? So here's what I've encountered. FEEDING WATER TO BABIES! Those who are doing some research before breastfeeding or have heard about it should know that we need not feed our babies water as they can have all the fluid they need through our breast milk. So I pretty much insisted upon it since the very first day I have Reverie. As you know from my labor post, MIL & my parents came and ask why never feed formula coz I have no milk. When I talk about colostrum then they say need to feed water next. That point of time I told them its not required and also because I don't want Reverie to have nipple confusion (later reject my nehneh I sure faint -.-) After naggings by my mum and aunt (My aunt is friggin' fierce and firm that kind. But I love her alot coz she always bring me for shopping & she pays for everything =X), I pretended to feed Reverie water during the once or twice we've met and my mum just sneak some water to feed her while I'm not looking. Have to thank god coz she definitely have no nipple confusion =X So 3 days before, I dug out my book of "What to expect, the first year" by Heidi Murkoff (Definitely the best-est child care book ever) and chance upon this question being answered by the author. "I'm wondering if I should give our daughter bottles of water instead of nursing her so often"(Sorry if there are any typos as I've typed it out myself by referring to my book.) So yeah, I almost choked myself to death while reading the line in bold! And immediately called my mum and tried to explain to her why we shouldn't feed my girl water but fail in terms of explaination because I dont know how to describe in Chinese (any help?) LOL! (But she stop bothering me to feed her water already!) So now you people see. Can listen to everything lao ren jia says? I seriously doubt so. Perhaps most of them but definitely not ALL of them! Use some common sense & some advance knowledge we have pl0x! I really recommend Heidi Murkoff's books to all pregnant ladies and mummies! They held practical advises and sometimes the answers are pretty humourous, making it fun to read! Pregnancy guide - What to expect, when you're expecting Babies' first year guide - What to expect, the first year Toddler's guide - What to expect, the toddler year (Haven't got it yet so not sure how good is it) Anyway, thanks friends and readers for "pestering" me to blog as it motivates me much more. But currently I had no idea what to blog about. Ideas please? I know friends wanna have more entries about Reverie but what kind of entries? Details pl0x! Before I end this entry,
To everyone, Happy April Fool's & Good Friday! Hope everyone have a happy weekend ahead! Toodles! Callie

Baby Reverie's Baby ShowerReverie's Baby Shower/ Full-Month Celebration Dear friends, Reviie's full month celebration will be on 14th March, Sunday, 12 pm - 2 pm at my Laogong's place, Woodlands! Those who are coming please sms me at 9368 5515 for exact address as I think it's not really appropriate to post it out here (Later people come burn my place =X) Inviting all friends, be it mummies, primary, secondary, nanyang, 56, maple friends! I'm not inviting friends personally because of 2 reasons. 1. Laogong & I are busy with our little mushroom and we really don't have the energy to crack our brains to remember who to invite. 2. The bad wedding invitation experience. Some last minute gave me lame pork excuse and didn't came in the end -.- So those who actually see this notice and didn't come please don't give me shyt later on like "Wah you good never invite me" because I'm gonna be really pissed! But I do really invite really good friends who I knew would definitely come and celebrate Baby Reverie's birth with us =D But please, once again, pardon me if you feel offended if I didn't invite you personally (kindly refer to reason 1 =X) I might sound unsincere inviting friends to Reviie's baby shower but please refer back to reason 1 and 2 again, LOL! Anyway, remember to sms me if you are coming! Loveee* Callie

Books & BreastfeedingSo so so. Being a mummy for 2 weeks plus now (flashes wide smile), I'm gonna share my 2 weeks worth of views on breastfeeding, motherhood & books! I'm not sure how exactly you name this kind of person but I'm the kind who would read alot into certain stuff before/while doing it. For example, before I even got Sushi, Mochi & Lele, I read forums about hammies & maltese. Even when Kinokuniya to purchase books about them, just to know more so as to take better care of them. So before I got pregnant, I chance upon this book fair and got my very first pregnancy book! Vivid pictures pl0x! Mad scary with real life delivery pictures and the woman is like in mortal agony -_-! Then I got a second pregnancy book & a pre-natal education book at Kinokuniya while I'm trying to concieve. During that period of time I'm like holding that pre-natal book frequently to class and friends are like giving me wierd "wah-you-this-age-want-baby-ah" look. Just happen that one of the modules I'm going through that time talks about pre-natal education, makes me extra alert in class! During my pregnancy, got the ultimate pregnancy guidebook "What to expect when you are expecting". Like what the cover says "The American Pregnancy Bible" and indeed it is! Almost all questions were being answered and I love it to bits. So it's being greatly recommended by me! Then later on, months before delivery I got the book from the same author, "What to expect, the first year". Pretty good I think, filled with tips and almost everything you would encounter about handling newborns and etc. More interested in the medical and health part as I'm friggin' yaya because I think I can handle Reviie with my pathetic experience working in infant care *cough* (So far so good =X) So around 7th month of pregnancy, Amulet enrolled her girl, Darrielle, into the childcare I'm teaching in and I learnt a great deal from her! Have long heard about breastmilk doesn't come in before day 3 but there is no need to feed them on formula but I'm not sure how all that works and she sort of briefly explained it to me. Chanced upon Sherlyn's blog next and she blogged a loooong post about breastfeeding and how she insist on not feeding her girl formula milk despite the nurse saying that Kayla can't be discharged if she haven't pass her first urine and etc. That post really inspire me to breastfeed even more even thou' I've already made up my mind to breastfeed Reviie! Before even started to breastfeed, I've already encounter problems. I'm going back to work when Reviie is around 3 months, I'm worried about being able to keep up with my supply, expressing & storing breastmilk and etc. So once again, decided to go to the "holy place", Kinokuniya to purchase a book about breastfeeding! & it really save my life! When my Mother-in-law and parents visited me, my MIL are like "you now no milk" & "she look very hungry!". I tried to explain to them about colostrum but my MIL was unconvinced. My face were being saved by the lactation consultant who came and visit shortly. LC: Breastfeed or formula? Me: Breastfeeding LC: Mixed with formula? Me: Nope, total breastfeeding LC: Very good! Me: (Immediately the yaya face come out to show my MIL =X) Then she brief the whole lot of us about colostrum and how precious it is, not that I'm not aware but just make sure my MIL knows about it and stop asking me to feed her formula! My breastfeeding path is smooth so far but not with obstacles. Reviie didn't latch on the moment she's delivered as she's busy playing with her tongue. When she's sent to me after being cleaned up and her APGAR test, she finally latch onto my breast but was taken away by the nurse in 10 minutes as she couldn't regulate her temperature well and have to return to the warmer. The first few days of breastfeeding was pretty hard as - the first suction is verrrrrrrrrrrry painful! Always grab onto Laogong's hand when she latches on and try to stop myself from screaming =X - breastfeeding helps our uterus to contracts faster, it's very painful considering the fact that I've never experienced real hard core contractions before. - I have to sit in a uber upright position with my painful stitches -.- Really hell when I'm back at home without the hospital's auto-reclining bed! - have to wake up every 3-4 hours to feed her myself with the stitches' pain. - experienced engorgement and had fever that simply doesn't go away until the 3rd day. I can jolly well skipped all these shyt if I were feeding Reviie formula. But I know the advantages of breastfeeding and definitely see it myself. My mum didn't breastfeed me and my brothers due to insufficent supply. My MIL breastfeed my Laogong till he's 4. Difference? I think it's pretty obvious. The 3 years that Laogong & I are together, never once he got sick himself unless I pass it to him for 1 or 2 times (with kissings it's hard not to pass the virus what =X). And at the same time, I myself got sick numerous times -_- So now, no matter how tough, I will & must breastfeed Reviie, at least, to the minimum months of 6. If it's possible & my supply permits me, I'm gonna try for longer periods. Hopefully can break Laogong's record, LOL! So far I'm okay with breastfeeding. And I really have to give special thanks to Sherlyn who patiently replied and adviced to my questions regarding them! And also my cousin Yenny who's always giving me advice on breastfeeding too. Shall end my looooooong post then. Happy weekends ahead! Toodles! Callie =D

Reverie's Arrival!Reverie's Arrival! I'm feeling much better now without stitches wound pain, fever & nua-ness therefore, I'm here bloggin' about Reviie's birth process! So here goes! As I've mentioned before, being a super bo liao person, I ask my mum help "count" when is the perfect date after Reviie's full term to induce her if possible. So mum get help from her friend who's studying all these ding dongs and got the date 17/02/2010 & 26/02/2010. The birth count of 17/02/2010 & 26/02/2010 says that person born on this date is this and that blah blah blah which I've forgotten. But of course have her strength & weaknesses. Of course we understand that fortune telling's stuff can only be believed to a certain extend =D So when Dr. Ang says "I'm gonna deliver very soon", I requested to be induce a week later (17th Feb, exactly 37 weeks, full term) if I've not delivered by then. He gave the green light and request me to visit him at his clinic on 17th Feb to check on me for the last time before induction. On 17th Feb, woke up early in the morning despite my appointment is on 4pm. Coz I doubt within such short hours (4pm-12am) I can deliver Reviie. So, as usual, I decided to go Dr. Ang's clinic at 10am xD After my usual morning session of BabyPlus, Laogong & I reached Dr. Ang's clinic at 10am and there is already alooooooot of people -_- But my turn came pretty quickly. Then was checked for dilation, 3cm. After checkup, when for our breakfast at mac and we slowly "shake" and take our time by taking MRT to Novena =D On the way keep feeling regular contractions for the first time! Some was pretty painful that people in MRT keep giving me the "Wah-this-one-going-to-deliver-on-mrt-got-good-show" look -_-! From Sembawang to Novena ~ Laogong with my hospital barang =X Went to shop for awhile at United Square at 12pm before admitting into Thomson Medical Centre. Bought Archie comics to read just in case I'm bored! Reached TMC around 1pm & did my admission thingy ~ My hospital card. They call me MDM loh! What the fish, LOL! Ling Callie somemore -.-! CALLIE LING LAH DEH! =X After done with admission the lady brought me to observation ward, changed into hospital gown and all. The nurse help me insert this liquid for passing motion. It may sound gross but IT'S LIKE THE ULTIMATE SHIOKNESS LAH! The shyt just come out sliding like that! No hard poos or anything! LOL =X ![]() Silly Laogong =X Idiotic me, LOL -_- Strapped on CTG next to monitor contractions & fetal heartbeat =D See my chickenpox scar since 4 just above the black strap! (Mad lame =X) Dr. Ang came at 3pm plus to break my waters. The thing that was used is like a looooooooong spatula-like-thingy at 30cm or longer inserted at your "that place". Laogong & I see already almost fainted -.-! When Dr. Ang's attempting to break it, it's abit uncomfortable but not painful, LUCKY! Water gushed out and continue to slowly flow out over the next few hours . . . And I must say my gynae know my pattern very well, without even me trying to tahan the contraction pain, he ask the nurse to have me wheeled into the labor ward and have the anaesthetist inject the epidural for me. Initially I'm like "WTF so fast meh! Read on forum when never feel contraction pain inject epidural will pain until die" So I'm so worried about the injection pain as I've always thought the needle is pretty big ._. Told the anaesthetist don't let me see the needle and he keep reminding me to not move a trillion of times. I was so so afraid that I would jump the moment the needle was inserted behind my spine! I keep humming nursery rhymes to distract myself and bite my hand until like what like that -_- End up it's only a tiny pinch feeling and it's done before I knew it. -_______-! Checked with nurse at 3.30pm and she says that I will be delivering at around 9pm in the evening. ![]() Was then put on drips and strapped on CTG once again. After quite sometime, felt the side-effects of epidural, shivering, and the sicko me finds it pretty shiok -_-! Laogong & I attempt to sleep while waiting for my cervix to dilate completely but I failed miserably. The nurses are checking my contractions frequently. And I remember I heard next door's labor ward, ppl are going "推推推!" for 2 times and there is baby crying already! During the time of waiting (after failing to sleep), was joking around with Laogong and asking him to take pictures around the ward and TWEETING/PLURKING! xD The nurse checked with us if our baby is boy or girl before preparing these things. I told her "girl" before turning to Laogong and mumble "unless a magical penis pop up later" LOL! At around 6.45pm, felt contractions coming even thou I'm on epidural. Laogong & I figured that even thou it's "tahan-able", I better have the nurse increases the dosage before I scream like one mad cow even before I started pushing. Dosage increased, check for dilation and found out that I'm 9cm dilated already! Laogong & I are like mad happy =D Slowly, whenever there is contractions, I don't feel pain but a mad urge to shyt. Understand from the nurse that it's because Reviie is pressing against my rectum therefore there is this feeling. Lucky it last for awhile & would go away if not I will . . . (It never happens so I dunno what I will do, LOL) Now's the part! At 8pm, Dr. Ang came in and everything became so fast and blurry. Laogong was asked to switched off the TV and the nurse was hurrying preparing all the delivery thingy. Dr. Ang then ask me how much Medisave I have and all. I told him we have enough for the deduction. Realised why he asked that soon after he holds the vacuum in his hand. I'm like "huh? why use vacuum?" and he says that my epidural is finishing soon, faster deliver if not top up have to add additional 200 bucks cash. (My gynae is known for his cheap package, always help patient to save money & superb C-sect skills) So when everything is in ready position, the midwife, Dr. Ang & Laogong all ask me to push and I really push like one mad cow! First push done, the next contraction came after quite sometime and Dr. Ang was like "why no contractions?" -_-! And at the second push, I felt something (no pain, really =X) slippery and huge came out of my "that place" and Reviie was placed infront of me! First impression of Reviie was "WAH! Double eyelid so thick!" even thou she's wheh wheh wheh-ing with her eyes closed! Laogong was like "Laopo, chu lai le!" Dr. Ang then let Laogong cut Reviie's umbilical cord and he proceed to stitch me up while the nurse carry Reviie away for weighting, APGAR test & all. The nurse ask Laogong to follow him and I was left there being stitch up and SUDDENLY, I FELT PAIN! TERRIBLE PAIN! UNTIL I KEEP SQUIRMMING ON THE DELIVERY BED! Dr. Ang was assurring me he's gonna finish it very soon. He says "Okay very fast it's gonna be done in 5 minutes. Nonono, 2 minutes" And to my horror, I saw the "thing" that stitches me up! A curved fish-hooked lookalike needle! MAD SCARY! The nurse seeing that I'm in pain, offered me laughing gas which I find totally no use ._. I mean, after using the ultimate pain killer, will this kind of minor itsy bitsy pain killer takes effect? But I still breathe from it like nobody's business because of the friggin' pain -_- When the stitching is done (feels like trillion of years to me), Dr. Ang left and the midwife when and take a look at the baby outside and I'm left alone. I keep mumbling things like "Okay Cal guai ah~ bu tong bu tong ah" when I'm painful like hell -_-! Laogong then happily "hopped" in with camera and showed me pictures of Reviie! Laogong say the nurses outside was saying Reviie very small. Then the other nurse say "look at the daddy you know liao" -_- (But her Laobu very dua jiak leh!) Reviie was brought in after awhile & I tried breastfeeding for the first time. She didn't latches on because she was busy playing with her tongue, sticking it in and out! Mad adorableeee xD Before cleaning up. Shag to the max face! LOL Was requested to move my butt from the delivery bed to another bed that will be tranferring me to my ward. So painful because of the stitches! The delivery bed, bloody! Wheeled to my ward and on the way, Reviie was being placed into the nursery and was informed by the nurses that we can see her in around 2/3 hours time after she's being cleaned up. So there! End of my labor story althou' I can still really continue whining about my later hospital stay! It's mostly about the stitches pain thou, LOL! Once again, must really thank all friends again who congratulate us! Dearest Reverie,Shall end this post with some pictures during the hospital stay & at home! Not much thou. After she's being cleaned up! First time latches on! =D Sleep until abit not happy look, LOL! 36th week checkup!Went for 36th week checkup today with much anticipation coz I've been feeling "wierd" for the past 1 - 2 weeks. Mainly because I have a little bloody discharge on last Saturday and keep feeling that my "that place" is splitting open -.-! So I'm like thinking, "maybe I'm dilated." As I'm working as a childcare teacher, I move, carry kiddos, walk more than normal pregnant office ladies who practically have their butts stucked at their rotating chairs. People say the more you walk/move/whatever, you will dilate easier compared to those who did not. So yeah, during my last checkup 3 weeks ago, the nurse told me to come in before 10am if I wanna come in the morning. I love morning checkups lah, so I decided to reach a minute before 9am even thou' my appointment time is at 5pm =X LOL! And you know what?! I forget that the clinic 10am then open! I'm early for an hour! LOL! Laogong so LL =X So we when for breakfast at McDonald's and Laogong continue to revise for his marketing exam that's in the afternoon. When it's my turn, told Dr. Ang about my bloody discharge on Sat and keep feeling that place splitting =X And he say he shall check for dilation later as the bloody discharge is false alarm because if it's real, I'm carrying my baby right now, so true =X LOL! Checked through ultrasound and Reviie is 2.3kg right now =D Gained 400g since last checkup, Dr. Ang says her weight range is perfect because when she's out, she will be around 2.6kg ~ And as usual until cannot be usual, that tigeress still refuses to faceup for 3D ultrasound scannings -.- Dr. Ang then asked his nurse in to help him in checking for my dilation, the nurse then bring Laogong's hand to me and give him a smile. I believe that's because she knows that I will scream in pain and grab Laogong's hand tightly or something -.- LOL! But lucky me, I've read on forums that when checking for dilation, RELAX! If not will be friggin' pain! Some ppl say freaking pain, some say slight discomfort, some say not much feelings. So I told myself to be relax and it turn out painless and discomfort-less! Kuakuakua xD And when Dr. Ang check he goes "Oh dear, you are going to deliver very soon" . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Laogong & I jitao stun there -.-! I'm 2 - 3cm dilated already! He says that I'm safe to go into labor anytime now =D He was checking with his pregnancy chart of timings & I asked the magical question. "Is it possible to deliver on the 17th or 26th? My mum chose the dates for me" He checked his calender and he says okay! I shall visit him again on the 17th of Feb for final checkup, if everything is okay, I should be delivering Reviie on that very day! But he also mentioned that it's very hard to say, I might even go into labor earlier than the 17th. Blahhh -_-! So now, Reverie dearie, even if you do not want your birthday to fall on the 17th of Feb, please tahan another 4 more days, on or after 14th of Feb ~ When the year of tiger is here! So so so happy! Can't wait to see our little girl soon! =D Labels: Checkup

Complete!I simply love love love my maternity leave (so far) and I've scrabbed and wiped and mopped our entire room. Smell so refreshing and nice! I got this hugeee burning desire to clean up our room at the very start of my maternity leave. But because of the stupid hemorrhoidds that's being a royal pain up in my ass, I keep delaying my room cleaning process until one day, despite the pain, I DID IT! I have totally no idea what's with this burning desire to clean up the room until I read this in the forums the very next day after I've cleaned up everything ; A nesting instinct is when pregnant women feel an uncontrollable urge to clean their house and everything around them. Females in the animal kingdom exhibit the same behaviour just before their offspring arrive. You may want to clean everything you see, or throw out anything old and grubby, or you may retreat into familiar company and the comfort of your own home. The nesting instinct can appear around the fifth month, but if you are close to being 40 weeks pregnant, it may indicate the onset of labour. So zhun loh! So I got this nesting instinct thing lah! And read the last line! "... but if you are close to being 40 weeks pregnant, it may indicate the ONSET OF LABOR" Wah! Does it mean I'm gonna go into labor soon? =X Reviie please tahan 2 weeks later after Chinese New Year thank you very much -_-! And guess what?! I've completed all my purchases for the maternity & baby checklist! Kuakuakua, so proud of myself =X Anyway went shopping for new year's clothing with my family and Laogong last sunday at TPY hub. Not that I need any CNY clothings lah, now I can only fit into maternity clothings but I'm gonna deliver soon. Might as well not buy, waste! Kuakuakua =X Tigers are significant towards our relationship because Laogong is a tiger and during the time we just get together, instead of saying "I love you" to each other, we shyly say "wo laohu ni" LOL! Mad lame I know =X And now our girl is gonna be a tigeress too ~~~~~ Love this musical mobile as the rotating speed isn't very fast, which will most likely make Reviie headache if it does =X The music are cutee! 3 different kinds of music for sleeping & playing time =D Initially wanted to buy it at Causeway Point when we first saw it coz it comes with a free Marie stroller toy, when back after I've gotten my pay and the one with free Marie toy is gone! So angry & disappointed loh! But at TPY hub's kiddy palace, there is still free Marie stroller toy! I love love love Marie lah! She's like the only cat I love because she's so "bimboticaly" chio in pink =X LOL! Hang it on Reviie's Juicy stroller already =X When you pull the Marie, the hands will go up and down shaking, mad cute! LOL! Decided to remove the stroller's reversible pink velour padding coz very easy dirty! Later cannot wash away I heartpain ah ._. Coz I doubt can buy the padding alone o.O Weeeeeeeeeee, Callie & Fang love pink! I wonder if Reviie will like pink next time? Or find pink absolutely revolting coz she've seen too much of it since birth? LOL! Hard to say eh =X Lalalas, shall prepare to go Paragon now! Wanna checkout mothercare store for this organic liquid form powder. Read from Sherlyn's blog about talc causing overian cancer and it scares the fish out of me and I immediately dump the 2 huge bottles of powder I've gotten for Reviie =X Then when to do more research, some ppl say powder form not good as they cause breathing difficulties -_- Zzzz, so lehcheh lah. So I when to mothercare at CWP & ask about this liquid powder and they show me liquid talc -_-! Almost fainted on the spot. Lucky this supplier guy who happens to be there told me that other mothercare store carry this brand call "baby buds" or something that is the liquid form of powder and is organic blah blah blah without any talc. Gonna check it out later =D Toodles! Callie <3 Labels: Shopping for Reviie
